Quaest Poll: Allyson Leads Rio Grande do Norte Governor Race at 25%, Tied with Cadu

A new poll by Quaest reveals a closely contested race for the governorship of Rio Grande do Norte, with former Mossoró mayor Allyson Bezerra (União Brasil) leading with 25% of voter intentions. However, his lead is narrow, placing him in a technical tie with Cadu de Lula (PT), who garnered 21% support.

Álvaro Dias (PL) is also a strong contender, polling at 19%, which puts him within the margin of error for a technical tie with Cadu de Lula. The poll indicates a tight three-way race, with Allyson Bezerra's lead over Álvaro Dias being at the edge of the margin of error, making a direct tie between them unlikely. Other candidates, Professor Roberio Paulino (PSOL) and Rodrigo Bolsonaro (AGIR), each received 2%, while Dário Barbosa (PSTU) secured 1%. Several other candidates did not register significant support.

The survey, which involved 804 voters aged 16 and older from August 20-23, also found that 14% of respondents indicated blank or null votes, and 16% remained undecided. In spontaneous polling, where candidate names were not presented, Allyson led with 16%, followed by Cadu de Lula and Álvaro Dias both at 10%. A significant 57% were undecided in this scenario.

The poll also explored three potential second-round matchups. In a hypothetical contest against Cadu de Lula, Allyson Bezerra maintained a slight edge with 35% to 34%. Against Álvaro Dias, Allyson secured 35% to 20%. In a Cadu de Lula versus Álvaro Dias scenario, Dias led 31% to 26%. These results suggest a dynamic and uncertain election landscape for the succession of Governor Fátima Bezerra.
