Quang Ngai: Police Go Undercover to Bust Over 200 Youths for Suspected Racing

Authorities in Vietnam's Quang Ngai province have cracked down on illegal street racing, arresting more than 200 teenagers and young adults in a pre-dawn operation. The coordinated effort saw traffic police, working with other units and local police, go undercover to intercept the group.

The operation took place on Pham Van Dong street in Cam Thanh ward between approximately 1:45 AM and 5:30 AM on August 16. During the raid, police seized 137 motorcycles. The individuals apprehended were found gathering and operating their vehicles in ways that violated traffic safety laws, including suspected illegal racing.

Colonel Vu Thanh Giang, head of the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Police, stated that the plainclothes operation was designed to proactively detect and prevent groups of young people from engaging in high-speed riding, which poses risks to public security and traffic safety. The police are currently verifying the identities of those involved and classifying the vehicles, with further administrative actions and legal proceedings to follow for those found to have committed violations.
