Quito's Trolebús and Ecovía to relaunch five school express routes

Students in Quito will benefit from the reactivation of five dedicated school express routes on the Trolebús and Ecovía systems, beginning September 1. This service coincides with the start of the new academic year, aiming to ease the daily commute for young learners.

The routes are scheduled to depart between 6:05 AM and 6:30 AM, offering a direct and efficient way for students to reach their educational institutions. A special student fare of $0.17 will be applied to these services. The city's Passenger Company is implementing this measure to help manage the increased passenger load expected with the return to classes and to alleviate congestion on public transport.

The Trolebús will feature two school express routes. One will run from Terminal Quitumbe to Colón, with departures at 6:05 AM and 6:15 AM, making several stops along the way. The second Trolebús route will depart from El Recreo station towards Colón at 6:15 AM and 6:30 AM, also serving key intermediate stops.

The Ecovía system will operate three distinct routes. One route will connect Terminal Quitumbe to Playón Marín, with departures at 6:15 AM and 6:30 AM. Another route will travel from Guamaní station to De las Universidades, with departures at 6:05 AM and 6:15 AM. The third Ecovía express service will run from Río Coca station to Playón Marín, with departures at 6:15 AM and 6:30 AM.

In addition to students, teachers can also utilize these express services by presenting their credentials. Parents and guardians accompanying younger children are also permitted to use the routes. Traffic agents will be stationed at various points to ensure the punctuality of the express services and to enforce the use of exclusive lanes by authorized vehicles, preventing disruptions to the Trolebús and Ecovía operations.
