Rabla Auto 2026: New Registration Session Opens for Eco-Bonuses

Romania has initiated the second phase of its "Rabla Auto 2026" program, reopening applications for eco-bonuses aimed at encouraging the purchase of new, less polluting vehicles. This initiative allows individuals who missed the first round of funding to apply for financial incentives.

The Administration of the Environment Fund (AFM) has allocated a total budget of 93,737,000 lei for this session. The funds are derived from previously allocated resources for which procedural steps were not fully completed. The largest portion, over 70 million lei, is designated for new cars with thermal engines, including GPL/GNC options, and hybrid vehicles. Approximately 20.4 million lei is reserved for plug-in hybrid, fully electric, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Florin Bănică, president of the AFM, stated the program's goal is to reach as many beneficiaries as possible and continue supporting the renewal of Romania's vehicle fleet. The eco-bonus amounts vary based on the vehicle type: 18,500 lei for pure electric or hydrogen fuel cell cars, 15,000 lei for plug-in hybrids or electric motorcycles, 12,000 lei for hybrids, and 10,000 lei for internal combustion engine vehicles or motorcycles.

Registrations opened on August 25 at 10:00 AM and will continue until December 31, 2026, or until the allocated budget is exhausted. Applicants must submit their requests online through the AFM application, using forms available from August 25. After submitting the application, a registration number is generated, and the eco-bonus is reserved, subject to available funds. Participants then have 10 days to provide the chassis number of the used vehicle, upload required documents, and select a validated manufacturer. The AFM advises interested individuals to review the conditions and necessary documents in advance.
