Rahul Gandhi forcibly removed from protest site outside PM Modi's residence

Police forcibly removed Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, from a protest site outside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. Gandhi and other Congress leaders were protesting alleged police brutality against students during a march to the Indian parliament.

Within a few moments, after taking permission from the government’s top leadership, Shri Rahul Gandhi was assured that his demand has been accepted, and the government is ready to discuss in Parliament all issues related to NEET and the associated movement.

The removal followed the government's unsuccessful attempts to persuade Gandhi to end his protest. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh had met with Gandhi, informing him that his demand for a parliamentary discussion on the NEET issue had been accepted. However, according to Singh, Gandhi then added a new demand: the resignation of the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.

He added that when Gandhi was informed of this, he allegedly shifted his stance, demanding both the discussion and the minister's resignation.

He said that now I have two demands: discussion in Parliament and the resignation of the Union Education Minister.

Singh claimed that when Gandhi was reminded of his initial demand for only a discussion, the Congress leader allegedly stated his demands had changed. This shift prompted the police action to remove the protesters.
