Rain and Storms Threaten Four Paraguayan Departments Overnight, Meteorology Office Warns

Heavy rain, strong wind gusts and isolated hail threatened four Paraguayan departments overnight, according to the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The warning covered northern and eastern parts of the country. The highest-risk areas included northern and eastern Concepción, Amambay, Canindeyú and Alto Paraguay. Meteorologists said unstable cells were developing over the north and east of the Oriental region and the northeastern Chaco.

Duty meteorologist Celia Sanguinetti said the unstable conditions would gradually weaken. Scattered rain remained possible across much of Paraguay on Tuesday, with weather expected to improve during the afternoon. By Wednesday, the probability of rainfall was expected to be virtually zero nationwide.
