Rain expected across South Korea, with heaviest falls in Gyeongnam and Jeonnam

South Korea is bracing for widespread rain and showers on Thursday, August 27th, as forecasted by the Korea Meteorological Administration.

The precipitation is expected to affect most regions, with specific areas like Gwangju and Jeonnam anticipating rainfall between 10 to 60mm. Busan, Gyeongnam, and Ulleungdo/Dokdo are also forecast to receive similar amounts. Other areas, including parts of Chungnam, Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk, may experience showers of 5 to 60mm by evening.

In addition to the rain, strong winds and high waves are predicted for the southern seas, including the South Sea and Jeju waters. Coastal areas in Jeonnam and Gyeongnam, as well as Jeju Island, are warned of potential dangers from strong waves reaching beaches and overflowing onto breakwaters. The public is advised to exercise caution near the coast.

Temperatures are expected to remain above average for this time of year, with daytime highs ranging from 29 to 34 degrees Celsius. Despite the rain, humidity is expected to remain high, leading to muggy conditions once the showers cease. Meanwhile, fine dust levels are forecast to be at a 'good' level nationwide.
