Rain Expected in Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces

Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory, forecasting intermittent rain and thundershowers for the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces. The advisory also includes the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya.

Residents in these areas can expect scattered showers, with a possibility of thundershowers. The weather is expected to bring some relief from drier conditions prevailing in other parts of the island. Meanwhile, the Uva province may also see some scattered rainfall, particularly in the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Hambantota districts, likely occurring after 2:00 PM.

In addition to the rainfall, several regions are anticipated to experience moderate to strong winds. These include the western slopes of the central highlands, as well as the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces. Wind conditions are also expected in Trincomalee, Monaragala, Hambantota, and Matale districts. The rest of the island is expected to remain predominantly dry.
