Rainie Yang's 'The Elephant in the Room' MV Wins Six Telly Awards

Taiwanese singer Rainie Yang has received significant international recognition, with her music video for "The Elephant in the Room" clinching six Telly Awards. This prestigious award is one of the world's largest competitions for film and television programs, often likened to the "Oscars of the US television industry."

Yang shared her surprise and joy at the win, expressing deep gratitude to the production team, including director Chen Yi-jen and the visual production company, for their dedication. She highlighted the extensive preparation involved, noting that the MV's concept was developed through months of meetings and required a high-caliber crew for filming and post-production.

The music video features a striking "1:1" scale tilted room installation. Yang performed a challenging scene requiring her to be suspended by wires, moving and sliding within the unstable space to visually represent the struggle of being oppressed by fear. Despite the inherent risks and time-consuming nature of the shot, Yang embraced the challenge to fully convey the song's intended meaning.

"The Elephant in the Room" uses the metaphor of an elephant to depict deep-seated, unspoken pain and anxiety, reflecting Yang's personal journey of growth and self-acceptance. She stated that the song serves not only to encourage listeners but also as a personal reminder to confront one's inner struggles before they become overwhelming. Yang plans to bring her "The Elephant in the Room" concert tour to more cities, including a return to Taipei.
