Ramle man indicted after shooting his lawyer six times at close range over insurance claim

A 24-year-old man from Ramle faces charges of intentional murder after allegedly shooting his lawyer six times at close range in his Rishon Lezion office. The indictment centers on a dispute over a NIS 18,500 insurance claim related to vehicle damage.

Ahmad al-Rajoub was charged in the Central District Court in Lod with intentional murder, carrying a weapon, destroying evidence, and obstructing justice. Prosecutors allege that Al-Rajoub became enraged by what he perceived as the slow handling of a claim by attorney Arbel Feldman, who was representing him in proceedings against Harel Insurance. The claim was filed in June 2024, with related coverage disputes being heard separately.

According to the indictment, Al-Rajoub grew frustrated by the case's delays, complaining that Feldman had not moved the claim forward quickly enough and that he was facing severe financial difficulties. During a recorded phone call on July 20, Al-Rajoub allegedly spoke threateningly to Feldman, accusing him of "screwing him" after nearly three years of proceedings.

The indictment details that one week after this conversation, Al-Rajoub entered Feldman's office shortly before 1 p.m. on July 28, carrying a concealed handgun. He allegedly approached Feldman and fired six shots at close range, striking his upper body, head, and hand. Feldman died at the scene from blood loss. Prosecutors state that only 21 seconds elapsed between Al-Rajoub's entry and departure.

Following the shooting, Al-Rajoub allegedly fled the scene, disposing of the gun and his mobile phone along the way to prevent them from being used as evidence. Approximately two hours later, he surrendered to police in Ashdod, initially citing a financial motive for the killing.
