Ran Over, Injured Three People, and Fled: Found "Crouched" Under a Bed

Police in Essex, England, have apprehended Joseph Wicks, a 27-year-old man sought for several serious offenses, including a hit-and-run incident in November 2025. Wicks was captured at his Colchester home on May 11, with authorities releasing footage of him "crouched" and hiding beneath a bed.

Authorities stated Wicks was wanted for dangerous driving and was under investigation for harassing a woman. He was identified as the driver of a Fiat 500 that mounted a sidewalk and hit three pedestrians outside a Colchester nightclub in the early hours of November 30, 2025. Earlier that day, he had driven aggressively and dangerously on the wrong side of a one-way street, narrowly avoiding pedestrians while running a red light.

After striking the three individuals, Wicks fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle. Although the victims sustained minor injuries, Wicks' fingerprints were found in the car, leading to his identification. He continued to commit further offenses while evading arrest.

On May 8, Wicks reportedly went to a woman's home, shouting and banging on her door aggressively. When a man approached Wicks' parked vehicle to speak with him, he claimed to see a metal baseball bat and what appeared to be a firearm. Wicks fled again but continued to harass the woman via calls and messages. Following reports of a potential firearm, armed officers searched properties linked to Wicks, recovering the baseball bat but no firearm. On May 11, officers found Wicks hiding under a bed during a search of a Colchester residence.
