Randy Bintang Caps Amateur Career with Back-to-Back Championship Win

Randy A.M. Bintang concluded his amateur golf career with a triumphant victory, successfully defending his title at the Medco-Pondok Indah International Amateur Golf Championship 2026 held at the Pondok Indah Golf Course in Jakarta. This win marks his second consecutive championship, serving as his final appearance before transitioning to the professional level.

Bintang admitted to initial uncertainty about retaining his title after the first two rounds, where Rayhan Abdul Latief and Jonathan Manuel Wijanto held the lead. However, he saw an opportunity in the final round, capitalizing on a decline in his rivals' performance to secure the win. "Actually, I didn't expect (to win). But the opponents above dropped their scores," Randy stated at the course.

He finished the tournament with a total score of 212 strokes, four under par. His final round performance of 69 strokes, three under par, followed earlier rounds of 72 and 71. Bintang attributed his victory to improved putting, noting that despite a double bogey on the sixth hole, he rallied with three consecutive birdies on holes 15, 16, and 17.

In the women's division, Jennifer Quinn Effendi claimed the championship, leading from the first day and finishing with a total of 217 strokes, one over par. Her victory also made her the youngest golfer ever to win the tournament. Quinn, who turns 14 on August 11, focused on each shot despite wind conditions affecting her play in the final round. The tournament featured participants from Indonesia, the United States, China, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
