Rangkaian HUT ke-25 Demokrat, AHY akan Safari Politik

The Democratic Party is preparing a series of events, dubbed "Silaturahmi 360 degrees," to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The program aims to foster friendship and collaboration across the political spectrum and with various societal groups. Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, widely known as AHY, will lead these outreach efforts, embarking on a political tour to meet with leaders of other political parties, major mass organizations, and prominent figures throughout Indonesia.

"We want to build friendships, both at the central and regional levels," stated Herzaky Mahendra Putra, head of the Democratic Party's Strategic Communication Body (Bakomstra). While the specific individuals and organizations AHY will visit have not been disclosed, the tour is scheduled to continue until the main anniversary celebration on September 9, 2026.

AHY outlined three primary agendas for the party's 25th-anniversary commemoration: advancing the economy, enforcing justice, and safeguarding democracy. He described these as the core pillars of the Democratic Party's political struggle. The party's approach to economic advancement is built on four principles: promoting pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-poor, and pro-environment policies. AHY stressed the importance of development policies that favor less fortunate communities to help Indonesia transition from a middle-income to a high-income country, ensuring job security for its citizens.

Furthermore, AHY emphasized the party's commitment to upholding justice, stating that a fair legal system is a societal demand. He also highlighted the need for equal opportunities in economic, social, and political spheres, famously asserting, "The law must not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards." The third key agenda, maintaining democracy, is considered intrinsic to the Democratic Party's identity since its founding. AHY likened democracy to essential oxygen, stating that disruptions to democratic life leave people struggling to breathe.
