Rapper Ge Changshan joins 'Rap of China' after 10 years, helps team to second place

After a decade of invitations, rapper Ge Changshan, known as Miss Ko, finally graced the "Rap of China" competition stage for its 10th anniversary. She appeared as a guest performer for the team Triple K.O., comprising contestants Yamy and Jiamu, ultimately helping them secure second place and advance to the finals.

Ge Changshan explained her long-held hesitation, stating she didn't want to participate merely for exposure. "For me, it had to have special meaning," she said. The show's milestone anniversary, coupled with the release of her long-awaited new album, motivated her to accept the offer. "They invited me for ten years, so this time, let's do it!" she quipped.

Her performance immediately sparked discussion online, with viewers praising her stage presence and skill. Fellow musicians also lauded her contribution. "Miss Ko Ge Changshan's part goes without saying," remarked Golden Melody Award winner Li Jiu Zhe, while rapper Wu Jiaxuan simply described it as "terrifying." Actor Yan Haoxiang called her a "stabilizing force" on stage.

Reflecting on her teammates, Ge Changshan described Yamy and Jiamu as passionate and driven. She felt their energy reminded her of her own early career. Seeing Yamy, the sole female finalist, and herself as the only female guest, Ge Changshan was determined to help her advance. She also noted Jiamu's melodic talent and stage ideas.

Ge Changshan chose powerful songs like "Home Run" and "Break Him" to create an aggressive opening for Triple K.O. She aimed for a true collaboration, ensuring her teammates were naturally integrated into the performance. The team's second-place finish surprised her, but she was most pleased that Yamy and Jiamu reached the next round. "The goal was to help them get to the next round, and we did it, so hell yeah, mission accomplished!" she stated.
