Rasuwa customs point’s future uncertain after floods wipe out key infrastructure

Floods have put the future of Nepal’s Rasuwagadhi customs point in doubt after key infrastructure was wiped out.

The facility lies along the Nepal-China border, where the Bhotekoshi, also known as the Lhende River, flooded on July 8, 2025. The flooding forced the Rasuwagadhi border point to close.

Rasuwagadhi accounted for 2.18 percent of Nepal’s total imports in the last fiscal year. That share is relatively small compared with the customs point’s previous contribution to Nepal’s foreign trade.
