RB Leipzig loan Conrad Harder to France’s Strasbourg

RB Leipzig have sent striker Conrad Harder to French first-division club Racing Strasbourg on loan. The deal does not include a purchase option, according to dpa information.

Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer said the move should give the 21-year-old Dane regular playing time at a high level. He pointed to Strasbourg’s young squad and attacking approach as suitable conditions for Harder’s development.

Harder joined Leipzig from Sporting Lisbon last season for about 24 million euros, making him the club’s record signing at the time. He has appeared in 34 matches but scored only four goals and has not yet met expectations in Leipzig.

Despite the absence of Romulo, Harder did not make the starting lineup under new coach Martín Demichelis. His last Leipzig goal came as a substitute in the club’s 6-0 German Cup win over Eintracht Trier.

For Conrad, at this stage of his development, the priority is to play regularly and collect as many minutes as possible at a high level. Strasbourg offers him very good conditions with a young, ambitious team and a modern, attacking approach.
