RCCG ordains 2,820 pastors, 11,830 deacons, deaconesses at 74th convention

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has concluded its 74th Annual Convention with the ordination of a large number of its members into pastoral and leadership roles. The church officially ordained 2,820 candidates as full pastors, alongside 11,830 deacons and deaconesses, and 5,977 assistant pastors.

These ordinations were a highlight of the week-long convention, themed 'Mountain Movers,' held at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. According to the church's Holy Ghost Service Instagram account, the office of a full pastor is the highest pastoral position within RCCG, with even the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, holding this title.

2,820 candidates were ordained to the office of Full Pastors. In R.C.C.G., the office of the Full Pastor is the highest office; even the General Overseer is a full pastor.

The figures for deacons, deaconesses, and assistant pastors were disclosed on the second day of the convention. The event itself, which ran from August 3 to August 9, 2026, attracted worshippers from Nigeria and around the world. It featured a packed schedule of daily worship, Bible studies, prayer meetings, seminars, and specialized sessions.

Key activities during the convention included the Holy Ghost Service, Holy Communion and Anointing Service, baptism, and the final thanksgiving service. The ordinations of pastors, deacons, deaconesses, and assistant pastors were among the most significant events, with General Overseer Pastor E.A. Adeboye leading many of the sessions alongside his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, and other senior ministers. The convention also included testimonies and announcements of church developments.
