Reception at French Embassy in Bucharest marked by speeches and a medical incident

The French Embassy in Bucharest marked France's National Day with its customary annual reception on Tuesday, July 14. The event saw interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan join Ambassador Nicolas Warnery for a toast, alongside numerous other guests.

Notably absent was President Nicușor Dan, who was in Paris participating in the day's ceremonies. However, the Bucharest reception was attended by a range of political figures, including USR leader Dominic Fritz and Sector 3 Mayor Robert Negoiță, who were seen exchanging greetings. Daniel Constantin, president of the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment and Trade, was also present, seen in conversation with Răzvan Pîrcălăbescu, head of Romarm.

A notable interaction was between the Mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, and Sector 3 Mayor Robert Negoiță. Despite belonging to different political factions, their relationship has reportedly warmed recently, especially after the Capital City Hall approved two of Negoiță's planned construction projects: a grade-separated road underpass at the intersection of Camil Ressu Boulevard and Nicolae Grigorescu Street, and an underground passage to ease traffic congestion at the Mihai Bravu Road intersections with Calea Vitan, Calea Dudești, and Baba Novac Street, alongside widening Calea Dudești.

The reception, which began around 5:00 PM, was momentarily overshadowed by a medical incident. A participant fell ill, prompting immediate assistance from several attendees, including Codrin Horațiu Miron, the chief prosecutor of DIICOT. Following the national anthems and speeches, including remarks from Ambassador Warnery and Prime Minister Bolojan, the guests mingled.
