Receptionist charged in "vitamin drip" deaths case in Mexico

A former clinic receptionist, Daniel Humberto “N,” faces charges of drug dealing with intent to sell, linked to an ongoing investigation into the deaths of eight people who received "vitamin drips" at a medical facility in Hermosillo. The Sonora State Attorney General's Office announced that a judge ordered Humberto “N” to stand trial.

The prosecution presented evidence indicating the 43-year-old receptionist likely aided Dr. Jesús Maximiano, who is currently sought in connection with the fatalities. The court found sufficient evidence to proceed with the drug dealing charges, which were not contested by the defense.

During the hearing, the defense presented video evidence, but a forensic analysis revealed embedded text, suggesting the file may have been altered. The Attorney General's Office has launched a separate investigation into this potential manipulation of evidence. The defense also withdrew the testimony of the accused's wife, avoiding cross-examination.

Humberto “N” was not remanded into custody, with the judge imposing alternative precautionary measures and granting three months for further investigation. The Attorney General's Office reiterated its commitment to pursuing justice and investigating any attempts to obstruct the legal process.
