Record Heatwave Leads SSG Manager to Allow Autonomous Training; Focus on Game Concentration Emphasized

With South Korea grappling with record-breaking heatwaves, SSG Landers manager Lee Sung-yong has opted to allow his players to conduct their pre-game training autonomously. The decision comes as temperatures in Incheon reached 36 degrees Celsius on a recent day, prompting concerns about player performance and safety. Lee explained that the team had already completed substantial training, and he believed allowing voluntary sessions would help players focus better during the game against the LG Twins. He also advised players to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible during their training. The extreme weather has also led the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) to take action. The league has already canceled two games and empowered umpires and team officials to delay game start times by up to an hour, excluding games played in the Gocheok Sky Dome, to mitigate the impact of the heat.
