Record-Sized U.S. Flag Flies Atop Vilnius TV Tower

Vilnius, Lithuania – A colossal American flag, the largest ever flown in Lithuania, now adorns the city's television tower. The 540-square-meter banner, weighing 70 kilograms, was unfurled early Tuesday morning by the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy.

This symbolic gesture marks a significant moment for U.S.-Lithuanian relations. Organizers stated the event will serve as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations. The display is also slated for official registration, aiming to set two new records: one for the largest foreign flag ever flown in Lithuania, and another for the city of Vilnius.

Attendees at the event included Tadas Vizgirda, Chairman of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, U.S. Ambassador Kara C. McDonald, Lithuanian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Audra Plepytė, and a representative from the Vilnius City Municipality. The occasion coincides with the approach of U.S. Independence Day, celebrated annually on July 4th to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
