‘Rectify businesses or face KD 5,000 fine and closure’

Kuwait Municipality is actively supporting economic activities through its 'Get your business licensed through correct steps' campaign, aiming to ensure business owners comply with regulations and avoid penalties.

The campaign is not limited to commercial business licenses, as it also covers the craft, professional, investment and industrial activities.

Hamad Al-Nimran, Advertising Supervisor at the Audit and Follow-up Department in the Capital Governorate branch, clarified that the campaign covers commercial, craft, professional, investment, and industrial activities. He stressed the importance of adhering to laws to prevent significant fines, which can reach KD 5,000, and other repercussions like business closure.

Field teams are focusing on three key violations: operating without a license, expanding into unlicensed space, and engaging in unapproved activities. The department conducts daily inspections across various business zones to monitor and document infractions. Minor violations may result in warnings instead of citations.

He underscored the need to fully abide by the regulations and laws to avoid hefty fines that could reach KD5,000 and other penalties such as closure of the business.

Al-Nimran urged business owners to follow the Municipality's social media accounts for guidance and to contact the Municipality directly for further information.

The field teams involved in this campaign are focusing on three types of violations -- opening a business without a license, adding unlicensed space, and adding or practicing an unlicensed activity without obtaining approval from the Municipality.
