Redesigned Mazda CX-5 debuts in Taiwan with standard AWD, upgraded tech and safety

Taiwan Mazda has officially unveiled the all-new third-generation Mazda CX-5, a significant redesign focusing on enhanced driving dynamics, technology, and safety. A key highlight across all four available models is the standard i-ACTIV AWD intelligent all-wheel-drive system, a feature Mazda claims is unique in its class.

The exterior of the redesigned CX-5 adopts Mazda's KODO design language, featuring a new floating KODO wing emblem and a more sculpted front end. The rear design emphasizes width with horizontal taillights and prominent MAZDA badging. The vehicle is available in five colors: Celestial Gray, Deep Blue, Snowflake White, Steel Gray, and Soul Red Crystal. An optional SIGNATURE STYLE package adds black and silver accents for a sportier aesthetic.

Inside, the CX-5 receives a substantial technological upgrade. All models come standard with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Higher trims offer larger central displays (12.9-inch or 15.6-inch) and a Head-Up Display (HUD). New features include driver personalization settings and facial recognition. Premium trims also include a 12-speaker BOSE sound system, heated front and rear seats, and front seat ventilation.

Cabin space has been expanded, with a wheelbase of 2,815mm contributing to increased rear legroom (up 64mm) and headroom (up 29mm). The cargo area also sees an increase in depth. Safety is a major focus, with 24 new safety features, including front cross-traffic alert, intersection support, 360-degree surround-view with underfloor view, and exit warning. The vehicle's body utilizes SKYACTIV-VEHICLE ARCHITECTURE with 63% high-strength steel, including up to 2,000MPa ultra-high-strength steel in critical areas, complemented by nine SRS airbags.
