Refusal to stop: isolated minor dies after police chase in Toulouse

A 17-year-old isolated minor has died from injuries sustained during a police chase on a scooter in Toulouse, France. The incident occurred Friday evening, with the youth succumbing to a thoracic trauma around 7:00 p.m.

According to police reports, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop after witnessing what appeared to be a drug exchange between a motorist and the scooter rider. Upon police intervention, the scooter driver abruptly accelerated, nearly hitting pedestrians and a police officer.

A pursuit ensued, during which the young driver reportedly struck at least one anti-parking post while attempting to evade the police. The impact resulted in the thoracic trauma that ultimately proved fatal.

The minor, identified as an isolated foreign minor with no prior judicial record, was conscious when taken to the hospital. Approximately 1,000 euros were found on his person. The investigation into the precise circumstances of the event, including the police pursuit, is ongoing.
