Reitan withdraws from Wyndham Championship to focus on FedExCup

Norwegian golfer Kristoffer Reitan has reversed his decision to play in the upcoming Wyndham Championship, opting instead to focus on training in Florida for the FedExCup playoffs. Reitan, who had previously indicated his intention to compete in the Greensboro tournament, announced his withdrawal on Saturday evening.

This decision means Kristoffer Ventura will be the only Norwegian player in the Wyndham Championship. Ventura, initially a first reserve, is now guaranteed a spot in the field following Reitan's withdrawal. Both Reitan and fellow Norwegian Viktor Hovland are scheduled to compete in the FedExCup playoffs, which begin the week after the Wyndham Championship.

Reitan, who has emerged as a prominent figure in Norwegian sports, winning "Breakthrough of the Year" at the 2025 Idrettsgallaen and securing a PGA Tour victory at the Truist Championship in May, stated his intention to prioritize preparation for the season's final tournaments. His earlier win guarantees him PGA Tour participation through 2028, affording him more flexibility in scheduling.

"I choose to prioritize training in Florida," Reitan told HBO Max. The golfer previously expressed the pressure to constantly compete but now feels relief and privilege in being able to plan his own calendar.
