Rejecting US-Israel peace deal, Netanyahu: Troops will withdraw only after Hamas fully disarms

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel will reject the U.S.-proposed peace plan unless Hamas is completely disarmed. The statement came during a cabinet meeting on August 9, where Netanyahu explicitly stated, "Israel rejects this 15-point document."

Netanyahu stressed that Israeli forces would not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until Hamas relinquishes all its weapons. "When I say disarm Hamas, I mean heavy weapons, light and medium weapons, and all weapons. We want real disarmament, not a show," he asserted, adding that discussions with the Americans were ongoing, with some proposals acceptable and others not.

Furthermore, Netanyahu reiterated his stance against the establishment of a Palestinian state, stating, "As long as I am prime minister, a Palestinian state will not be established, neither in Gaza nor in the West Bank."

This position contrasts with the framework announced by U.S. President Trump in late July, which aimed to ensure the "complete disarmament" of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. Hamas, however, has indicated its willingness to comply only if Israel ceases its attacks on Gaza and withdraws its troops beyond a designated 'red line'.
