Rejection banners targeting Jokowi's visit appear in Tangerang

Several banners expressing rejection of former President Joko Widodo's planned visit have been displayed in various locations across Tangerang, Banten. The banners, featuring Jokowi's image with a prohibition symbol, carry messages such as "Banten rejects Jokowi's political safari disguised as cultural tourism."

These banners were reportedly put up by several community organizations, including the Gerakan Merebut Kembali Kedaulatan Rakyat (GMKR) Banten, Forum Purnawirawan Prajurit (FPP) TNI, Koalisi Rakyat Banten, and Tim Pemburu Ijazah Palsu. A parking attendant in Tigaraksa noted the banners had been in place for about four days, though he was unaware of who installed them.

The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in Banten acknowledged the banners as part of normal political dynamics and a manifestation of freedom of expression. Andreas Arie, the PSI Banten Secretary, stated that while the party respects such expressions, they do not wish to speculate on the motives behind the banners. He confirmed Jokowi's visit to Banten is planned but could not provide a specific date.

Arie refuted the notion that Jokowi's visit is a political safari ahead of the 2029 elections, emphasizing it is intended as a cultural tour. He urged PSI members and supporters to remain calm and avoid provocation in response to the protest banners.
