Remittances rise for sixth straight month, reaching $5.571 billion in July

Money sent home by Mexicans abroad continued to show strength in July, rising for a sixth consecutive month despite restrictive measures ordered by the United States government on migrants’ transfers.

The flows reaching Mexican households, especially those most in need, totaled $5.571 billion during the seventh month of 2026. That represented a 3% increase from July 2025, when remittances had fallen 4.7% year over year. The July figure also exceeded June’s $5.472 billion by 0.5%, data from Banco de México showed.

Mexicans abroad sent slightly more transfers than the previous month. The number of operations rose from 12.9 million in June to 13 million in July, according to the central bank’s records. The average electronic transfer also increased, from $422 to $426.

By contrast, the average amount sent in cash or goods fell from $447 to $415. From January through July, total remittances reached $36.349 billion, compared with $35.250 billion during the same period of 2025, an annual increase of 3.1%.
