Renovation work begins at Turkish Parliament for new legislative year

The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is undergoing extensive renovation and maintenance work as it prepares for the start of its new legislative year. The 28th term's fourth legislative year concluded on August 11, initiating a period of refurbishment for the parliament's facilities.

The ongoing works encompass cleaning, repairs, and upgrades across numerous areas within the TBMM complex and its service buildings. This includes the renovation of government and opposition caucuses, group meeting halls, parliamentary offices, commission meeting rooms, and press conference rooms. Additionally, maintenance and operational tests are being conducted on the TBMM's IT infrastructure, including system rooms and corporate websites, alongside load testing and security checks.

Specific attention is being given to areas identified as worn out, with painting and repair work underway. This includes efforts in the caucuses and at the grand staircase of the TBMM's Hall of Honor. Lavatories are also being renovated. Furthermore, arrangements are being made for separate rooms designated for the Republican People's Party (CHP) and a new political party, situated in the same corridor.

The TBMM is slated to officially open its new legislative year with a ceremony on October 1. Prior to this, detailed cleaning operations will be carried out throughout the premises, including the General Assembly hall, the Hall of Honor, caucus corridors, and around the Atatürk Monument and the July 15 Monument. Preparations are expected to be completed shortly before the opening, ensuring the parliament is fully ready for the upcoming session.
