Report: Klopp to meet Red Bull executive over Germany coaching job

Jürgen Klopp is reportedly nearing a deal to become the next head coach of the German national football team. Sources indicate that a crucial meeting is set to take place later this week between Red Bull's global soccer chief, Oliver Mintzlaff, and Klopp himself. The discussion is expected to focus on finding a way for Klopp to leave his current role as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, a position he is contracted to until 2029.

The German Football Association (DFB), led by President Bernd Neuendorf and Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke, has reportedly reached a fundamental agreement with Klopp. This understanding covers the period leading up to the 2030 World Cup. Klopp, currently working as a TV pundit in the United States, is said to have had a prior meeting with DFB officials in the U.S. where a preliminary agreement was discussed.

However, an official agreement with Klopp's current employer, Red Bull, remains pending. One potential solution being considered is for Klopp to maintain a connection with Red Bull as a brand ambassador, contributing his expertise occasionally. This arrangement, however, faces potential opposition from amateur representatives within the DFB, who are wary of granting Red Bull influence over the national team. The DFB and Klopp are aligned on the terms of his potential role, which would see him succeed Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after Germany's early exit from the World Cup.
