Rescue dog Tsunami attends mural restoration in Venezuela

Tsunami, the celebrated rescue dog known for his bravery during the double earthquake in northern Venezuela, made a special appearance at Paseo Los Ilustres. He visited the site where a mural dedicated to him was being restored after falling victim to vandalism.

The event drew a crowd of dozens, all eager to witness the recovery of the artwork created by artist Giordani Sánchez. Social media videos captured the canine alongside his handler and trainer, Jorge Beens, interacting with attendees who seized the opportunity to take photos and express their gratitude for Tsunami's life-saving efforts during the national emergency.

Tsunami's presence transformed the day into a gathering point for citizens, rescuers, and animal lovers. Attendees lauded the dog's crucial role in locating survivors and victims amidst the earthquake debris. The gathering also served to promote animal welfare and acknowledge the dedication of rescue teams.

The restoration initiative was launched after Jorge Beens publicly appealed for the mural's repair, condemning the acts of vandalism. Beens had previously encouraged public support, inviting contributions of materials, participation in the restoration day, or simply sharing the event. Hundreds of volunteers ultimately converged to restore the mural, a testament to Tsunami's impact.
