Rescued Dog Vaguito, Who Patrolled with Trujillo Police, Honored After Death

In Trujillo, Peru, police officers bid an emotional farewell to Vaguito, a rescued dog who became a symbol of loyalty and bravery during his years of service. Vaguito accompanied officers from the La Libertad Police Region on countless patrols, leaving a lasting impact on the Special Services Unit and the Green Squadron of Trujillo.

Vaguito's journey began after he was rescued by members of the National Police (PNP) near the La Hermelinda market. Found in critical condition and abandoned, he received veterinary care and was welcomed into the police family, participating in their daily activities. He quickly earned the affection of his colleagues and the public, becoming a recognized member of the institution.

The loyal canine passed away while on duty during a patrol with officers. According to regional media, Vaguito suddenly collapsed. Despite being rushed to a veterinary clinic, his advanced age prevented recovery, and he died.

The PNP shared a heartfelt message on social media, stating, “Vaguito was not just a dog; he was a service companion, a silent guardian, and a symbol of fidelity for the family of the La Libertad Police Region.
