Rescuers free person after collision between minivan and car

Rescuers in Latvia's Olaine municipality assisted in freeing an individual trapped following a collision between a minivan and a light vehicle on Saturday. The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received the call at approximately 9:45 AM.

Firefighters worked at the scene, disconnecting the vehicles' batteries and clearing the roadway to restore normal traffic flow. While one person required extrication by the firefighters, other individuals involved in the crash managed to exit their vehicles independently. The rescue operation concluded shortly before noon.

According to State Police data, the country recorded a total of 115 traffic accidents within the last 24-hour period, resulting in 19 reported injuries. The Riga region saw 11 accidents with 17 individuals injured, including two cyclists and one electric scooter rider. Authorities also issued 476 administrative violation decisions related to traffic offenses, with 252 citations for speeding and one for aggressive driving.
