Residents of Crnotravska Street in Belgrade Point to Unsafe Construction Site and Deforestation

Residents of Crnotravska Street in Belgrade's Savski Venac municipality have lodged a formal complaint with the city inspectorate, citing serious safety concerns and regulatory breaches at a local construction site. They accuse the unnamed investor and contractor of "directly endangering citizen safety" through numerous violations.

According to reports from the scene, citizens highlighted that crucial information about the construction project, such as the identity of the investors and contractors, was initially missing due to the lack of a proper construction sign. While a sign has since been erected, the initial absence points to a disregard for transparency and regulatory requirements.

Further compounding the residents' concerns is the significant environmental impact. The complaint details the felling of century-old trees, a move that has alarmed locals concerned about the loss of green space and potential ecological damage. Additionally, the construction activities have led to the occupation of a sidewalk that serves as a vital access route to the VMA hospital.
