Retaliation for Bucha: 'Madziar's Birds' Drone Brigade Strikes 100km Behind Front Lines

Ukraine's drone brigade, known as 'Madziar's Birds,' conducted a significant strike targeting Russian military facilities and personnel approximately 100 kilometers behind the front lines in the occupied Luhansk region. The operation, led by Robert 'Madziar' Browdi, commander of the Ukrainian army's Drone Systems Forces, aimed at soldiers implicated in the 2022 Bucha massacre.

Information released on social media indicated that the strike hit training grounds and a military camp belonging to the 3rd and 36th armies of the Russian forces. Specifically, a post- এর 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, which participated in the Bucha operations in 2022, was targeted. Coordinated by the newly formed Deep Strike Center of the Drone Systems Forces, the strikes reportedly achieved 21 confirmed hits at depths of 70 and 100 kilometers from the front lines. While enemy losses are still being determined, preliminary operational data suggests 31 Russian soldiers were killed or eliminated from combat. This includes 9 deaths, 9 injuries, and 13 missing personnel.

'Madziar's Birds' evolved from a company to a brigade, named after its founder's call sign. Browdi previously explained to CNN that the unit began using drones for reconnaissance after being shelled by tanks and artillery, eventually adapting drones used for sports and games. He noted that about 95% of his brigade members were civilians before the full-scale invasion.
