Returned to his country after 13 years: Fred wore his new team's jersey

Brazilian midfielder Fred has officially returned to his home country after a 13-year absence, signing with Atletico Mineiro. The experienced player's transfer to his new club was previously announced following his departure from Fenerbahçe.

In a recent social media post by Atletico Mineiro, Fred was pictured wearing his new team's jersey, with the club stating, "Atletico Mineiro brings Fred to Turkey." The 33-year-old joined Fenerbahçe in 2023 from Manchester United. Throughout his career, he has also played for Shakhtar Donetsk and Internacional. During his tenure with Fenerbahçe, Fred made 129 appearances, contributing 12 goals and 21 assists.

Fred spent three seasons with Fenerbahçe before his recent move to Atletico Mineiro. Before leaving Istanbul, he met with Fenerbahçe's technical staff, players, and club employees. Fred described his time in Istanbul as "the most beautiful three years" of his life, filled with wonderful memories. During the farewell, President Yıldırım presented Fred with a No. 7 Fenerbahçe jersey and a gift.
