Review SOPs for taking students to clinics, says Mara chairman

Malaysia's Mara chairman has ordered a review of procedures for taking students to clinics after two teenagers from Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Alor Gajah went missing for four days. Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki stated that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) must be re-examined to prevent similar incidents.

"Whatever the factors that led to the two MRSM Alor Gajah students 'disappearing' for four days, I have asked the Mara management to review the SOP for taking students to clinics so that no similar incident recurs in the future. A full investigation must be conducted," Asyraf Wajdi said in a social media post.

The two Form Four students, aged 16, were reported missing on August 11. They were later found near Central Market in Kuala Lumpur by police from the Alor Gajah district. The students had reportedly felt unwell and sought treatment at a nearby health clinic.

Following their discovery, the students were taken for further medical examinations at Kuala Lumpur Hospital before being reunited with their families. Police are continuing their investigation into the exact cause of their disappearance.
