Rheinmetall to build modular military camp in Lithuania for 250 million euros

German defense contractor Rheinmetall is set to construct a modular military camp in Lithuania, a project valued at 250 million euros. This facility is designed as a temporary living space, assembled from individual components, and will be capable of accommodating up to 2,000 soldiers.

The camp is scheduled to become operational by mid-August 2027. Following its completion, Rheinmetall will assume management responsibilities for the facility. The company will also be responsible for providing essential services, including laundry and catering. The estimated annual cost for maintaining the camp once it is operational is projected to be 40 million euros.

This initiative is part of a broader program by the German army, aimed at providing suitable accommodations for soldiers during troop rotations or when they need to be prepared for deployment. The modular nature of the camp allows for flexibility and rapid assembly, aligning with the dynamic needs of modern military operations.
