Rhineland-Palatinate invests millions in three new police locations

The government of Rhineland-Palatinate is committing around 253 million euros to construct three new, modern police facilities in Mainz, Koblenz, and Ludwigshafen. This significant investment is being financed through portions of the special fund "Rhineland-Palatinate Plan for Education, Climate, and Infrastructure."

In Mainz, the police headquarters will relocate to the former, heritage-protected telegraph office, known as the Telehaus, likely by the end of the decade. The building will feature a canteen accessible to the public on the ground floor. This move will free up space in the current police building for necessary renovations, though a portion of the police force not part of the headquarters will remain there.

In Koblenz, the purchase of the Dornbachhaus is intended to facilitate the fundamental renovation of the technically outdated police headquarters on Moselring. While a specific timeline for this renovation is not yet available, officers are expected to return to the building once it is modernized. The newly acquired Dornabachhaus will be utilized for other purposes.

Meanwhile, in Ludwigshafen, construction is already underway for a modern police building that will replace the main house dating back to the 1930s. The shell of this structure is expected to be completed by the end of the year, representing one of the state's largest construction projects.
