Richard Carapaz Reaches Top 6 in Vuelta a España After Stage 4

Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz made a significant move in the Vuelta a España, climbing to sixth place in the general classification following Stage 4. Carapaz finished eighth on the stage, marking his best performance so far in the race and continuing his upward trajectory.

The stage, which took place in Andorra over 104.8 kilometers, was largely defined by the dominant performance of Tadej Pogačar. Pogačar launched a decisive attack with 50 kilometers remaining, securing his second stage victory and widening his lead in the red jersey standings. His superiority was evident as he finished significantly ahead of the main contenders.

While Pogačar extended his overall lead, Carapaz managed to finish the stage in solitary pursuit, arriving at 2 minutes and 57 seconds behind the stage winner. This strong showing allowed him to advance to sixth place overall, with a current time of 07:42:49 hours. He trails Pogačar by three minutes and 50 seconds.

Stage 4 also included the first mountain climbs of the race, where Carapaz accumulated six points, placing him fifth in the mountain classification. The Vuelta a España continues with Stage 5, a 173.4-kilometer undulating route from Falset to Roquetes, featuring a third-category climb with 28.4 kilometers to the finish.
