Ride the Wave of 'One Piece' Fever in Tamsui This Summer!

New Taipei City has transformed the Tamsui River estuary into a "new waterway" inspired by the popular anime "One Piece." The "2026 Tamsui Voyage" event, organized by the city's Tourism and Travel Bureau, combines the scenic views of the Tamsui River and the Tamsui-Kowloon Bridge with elements from the beloved series.

Since mid-May, the event has attracted tens of thousands of anime fans and tourists. A key attraction is the 12-meter-tall "Thousand Sunny" ship replica, constructed using air membrane art and steel structures. Weather permitting, visitors can board the ship's deck daily from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to experience the adventurous atmosphere and enjoy views of the Tamsui-Kowloon Bridge. Each evening, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., a "Sailing Light Show" with light beams and smoke effects is performed every half hour.

Fans can also take photos with a 6.5-meter-tall "Gear Second Luffy" figure, which features a light show every hour at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour from 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Other popular installations include a 5-meter-tall Chopper and various "Den Den Mushi" (Den Den Mushi) figures, all illuminated until 10 p.m., lighting up the Tamsui riverside.

The event also features an AR "electronic stamp collection" treasure hunt activity that explores local business districts. Participants can use a digital stamp collection webpage to scan QR codes hidden in Tamsui and Bali. Collecting six stamps allows them to redeem a limited-edition "One Piece"-themed round fan at official redemption points. Additionally, the Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf is offering a "buy one, get one free" breakfast promotion on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until July 12 for those with the stamp collection fan. Participants can also receive discounts at Tamsui and Bali businesses and partner accommodations by showing their collected stamps.

The "2026 Tamsui Voyage" event, leveraging the appeal of "One Piece" and the picturesque Tamsui-Kowloon Bridge, has drawn numerous visitors since its May launch. The exhibition is scheduled to conclude on July 12, urging fans to seize the remaining time to visit and participate in activities like boarding the "Thousand Sunny" and joining the treasure hunt.
