Rivers Police Dissolve Tactical Teams, Launch Violent Crime Unit

The Rivers State Police Command has taken decisive action to reform its operations by dissolving all tactical teams and consolidating them into a specialized Violent Crime Response Unit. This strategic reorganization, spearheaded by Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju under the guidance of Inspector-General Olatunji Rilwan Disu, signifies a renewed commitment to enhancing policing standards and restoring public confidence. The creation of the VCRU is intended to ensure swift and effective responses to violent crimes while upholding the fundamental human rights of citizens. Furthermore, the command has issued a stern warning against extortion and other forms of misconduct, making it clear that any officer violating the Nigeria Police Force Code of Conduct will face strict disciplinary measures.
