Road Closures in Quito for Ricardo Arjona Concert This Thursday, August 6

The Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT) of Quito has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for Thursday, August 6, 2026, due to a concert by the renowned Guatemalan singer Ricardo Arjona. The event, scheduled to take place at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in the northern part of the city, will necessitate significant road closures.

From 6:00 AM until midnight on the day of the concert, traffic will be restricted in the areas surrounding the stadium. Key intersections affected include those along Avenida 6 de Diciembre with José Correa and José Serrano, as well as closures on José Correa with Gonzalo Serrano, Quintero, and Carlos Arroyo del Río. Additional restrictions will be in place on M. M. Sánchez with Carlos Arroyo del Río, Quintero, Juan Ramírez, Javier Araúz, and Avenida 6 de Diciembre. Parking will also be prohibited in several sectors around the stadium.

AMT personnel will be deployed throughout the affected zones to manage traffic flow and ensure road safety during the event. The agency has also identified alternative routes for drivers to navigate the disruptions. These include Avenida Eloy Alfaro, De los Shyris, 10 de Agosto, Portugal, and Gaspar de Villarroel. Secondary and emergency traffic schemes may be implemented if necessary, potentially extending restrictions to other nearby avenues and streets.

The AMT is advising all motorists to plan their travel routes in advance and to anticipate potential delays caused by the concert. The agency's operational plan aims to minimize inconvenience while ensuring the safety and smooth transit of attendees and residents in the vicinity of the stadium.
