Road network: Major modernization plan launched across nine provinces

Algeria’s national road modernization program is advancing across nine provinces, with projects ranging from maintenance and rehabilitation to road expansion and new construction.

The work covers Ouled Djellal, Batna, Aïn Defla, Tissemsilt, Skikda, Relizane, Djanet, Béjaïa and Bordj Bou Arréridj. Progress varies by site and follows directives from Public Works and Basic Infrastructure Minister Abdelkader Djellaoui in coordination with provincial governors.

In Ouled Djellal, maintenance of a five-kilometer section of National Road 46A has reached asphalt-concrete placement after milling was completed. Rehabilitation of Provincial Road 04A is also continuing over 9.5 kilometers between Besbès and Ras El Miad.

Work in Batna is reinforcing 13.5 kilometers of National Road 3. In Aïn Defla, crews are maintaining 9.2 kilometers of Provincial Road 154, which links Rouina with National Road 65. Tissemsilt is advancing a five-kilometer dual-carriageway project around Khemisti, alongside the installation of reinforced-concrete safety barriers.

Further east, an eight-kilometer dual-carriageway linking El Harrouch and Aïn Bouziane in Skikda is moving through earthworks and ground preparation. In Relizane, rehabilitation continues on five kilometers of Provincial Road 12 in Yellel.

In the south, the road linking Tin Alkoum and Tin Khiamine in Djanet extends for 50 kilometers and has reached the base-course stage. Béjaïa has completed a test section for asphalt-concrete application on Provincial Road 43 in the Toudja area to check compliance with current construction standards.
