Rodas challenges Battaglia for WBA world title in Paraguay's south

Encarnación, Paraguay will host a significant boxing event on September 12, featuring a WBA International Championship bout between local challenger Christian “El Loco” Rodas and Argentine champion José “El Bambino” Battaglia. The fight is scheduled to take place at the Ex Diben stadium.

This event, organized by the Itapuense Boxing Club, aims to boost Paraguayan boxing. The fight card includes three professional bouts, ten amateur fights, and an exhibition match, with the evening's proceedings commencing at 7:00 PM. The weigh-in ceremony is set for September 11 at the Pérgola de la Costanera, with free public access.

Christian Rodas, known as “El Loco,” is the official challenger for the WBA world title. His previous achievements include winning the World Pugilism Commission South American title last year by defeating Argentine Juan Adrián Monzón. Battaglia holds the WBA world championship title.

Other notable professional bouts include a Super Welter South American title fight between Javier Álvarez of Argentina and Juan Manuel “Principito” Witt of Uruguay, and a Welterweight bout featuring Juan “El Zurdo” Vallejos from Paraguay against Héctor Rivero of Argentina.
