Rolandas Mackevičius offers an intentionally provocative answer to the question of what it takes to become a television star: “To become a star like me, you just need to be a psychopath unafraid to fool around.”

The longtime television host will discuss fame and life in the first episode of LNK’s new lifestyle program, Nuo... Iki.... The show is scheduled to air on Monday evening, as the thirteenth season of Lithuania’s Voice gets ready to begin.

Singer Mantas Jankavičius, one of the program’s coaches, takes a less glamorous view of success. He says that roughly 89 percent of the things in his life were total failures, while only 10 percent appeared to viewers as major successes. He also plans to thank his wife for accepting life with someone in his profession.

In my life, I have to admit that probably about 89 percent of the things, in my view, were total failures, and only 10 percent were seen by the viewer as a huge success. That is why this illusion appears.

Singer Monika Liu says the contestants this season are so strong that she sometimes questions whether they may be more talented than established Lithuanian singers. Producer Gediminas Jaunius offers a warning to those seeking fame: “An artist is essentially about nakedness. About openness. Sometimes people spit into your soul, and you have to avoid closing yourself off and keep hanging on. The road to stardom is not an easy road.”

The program will also examine how successful singers pursued recognition, which coaches compete most intensely and what tactics they use to win. The episode airs Monday at 8 p.m. on LNK.
