Roma thrash Lecce 4-0 as Malen strikes twice

Roma made another emphatic start to the Serie A season, following a 4-0 victory over Lecce at the Via del Mare. Donyell Malen led the way with two goals in the first 25 minutes, turning the match into a one-sided contest before halftime.

Malen opened the scoring in the fourth minute after a defensive mistake allowed Paulo Dybala to recover the ball and set up the Dutch forward. He struck again in the 23rd minute, meeting Wesley’s cross with a controlled finish.

Matías Soulé added a third two minutes later. Malen supplied the assist, and Soulé reacted quickest after goalkeeper Falcone failed to hold the initial effort. Roma completed the scoring in the 67th minute when new signing Rodrigo Mora scored his first Serie A goal for the club.

ANSA described Roma as dominant from the start, while Lecce struggled to keep possession and advance beyond midfield. Lecce coach Eusebio Di Francesco used a new three-man defense, but the formation did little to slow Roma’s attack.

The result leaves Roma with a perfect record after two matches. The club has scored eight goals and kept two clean sheets, joining Milan, Inter, Juventus and city rivals Lazio at the top of the standings.
