Roman Ż. detained in investigation involving Zondacrypto

Police detained Roman Ż. in Poland’s Silesian province as part of an investigation into the activities of Zondacrypto, the National Prosecutor’s Office said.

Today in the afternoon, on the orders of the Silesian branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice, officers of the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime and Silesian police detained Roman Ż. in Silesia in an investigation into ZondaCrypto.

The Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime and Silesian police carried out the detention on the orders of the Silesian branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice. During searches, officers secured valuable watches and documentation connected with Zondacrypto.

Anna Adamiak, a spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General, said the detention followed a justified fear that Roman Ż. might flee. Police searched both the place where he was detained and his registered residence.

Prosecutors said Roman Ż. would be brought to the Katowice office for procedural steps, including the announcement of a decision to present charges and questioning as a suspect. They said they would release further information after those proceedings ended.
