Romania: Autumn Baccalaureate exam schedule announced

Romania's autumn session of the national Baccalaureate exam is set to commence on Monday, August 3rd, starting with oral assessments of Romanian language communication skills. This session follows the July-August exams and adheres to a calendar approved by the Ministry of Education and Research.

The schedule is tightly packed, with oral evaluations for Romanian language taking place on August 3rd and 4th. Candidates from national minorities will undergo oral assessments in their native languages on August 4th and 5th. Subsequently, evaluations for international language proficiency are slated for August 5th and 6th, followed by digital skills assessments on August 6th and 7th.

For the language and digital skills evaluations, each candidate will be assessed by two examiners. Typically, one examiner is the student's regular teacher, and the other is a colleague from the same subject area within the school. If a teacher who did not teach the student is unavailable or if there's a conflict of interest, examiners will be selected from other schools, according to ministry representatives.

Notably, the results for these competency evaluations will not be marked as "pass" or "fail." Instead, candidates will receive a competency level designation, aligned with national or European frameworks. Similarly, digital skills assessment results will be expressed in relation to recognized European standards. Strict regulations will be enforced, prohibiting the use of mobile phones, headphones, internet-connected devices, and any other electronic communication tools. Candidates are also forbidden from sharing materials, notes, or communicating with others to prevent cheating.
