Romania Health Minister Reviews Progress on 8 PNRR-Funded Hospitals; Several Nearing Completion

Romania's interim Health Minister Cseke Attila has assessed the status of eight hospitals funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), announcing that some investments are already finalized and others are nearing completion. The Ministry of Health stated that these PNRR-funded hospital investments are entering a decisive phase, with several objectives already completed and received, while others are in the final stages of execution, reception, and operationalization.

Minister Attila emphasized the importance of adhering to schedules, noting that a project is not complete merely with a raised building. "It is ready when the works are received, the equipment is in place, the utilities are functioning, and we can put the infrastructure at the patient's service," he said. The ministry is meticulously tracking every stage and deadline.

Progress varies across the eight projects. At the Bistrița-Năsăud County Clinical Hospital, the new building is finished and received, with digitalization and equipment delivery expected by week's end. The Marius Nasta Pneumology Institute in Zerlendi is in its final finishing stages, with reception anticipated after August 25. Cluj County Clinical Hospital is finalizing medical equipment and furniture procurement, with reception procedures starting after August 13.

The Military Clinical Emergency Hospital in Craiova has completed its project and its new pavilion is operational. The Dr. Alexandru Augustin Military Clinical Emergency Hospital in Sibiu has concluded its investment, with reception scheduled for the following week. At the Agrippa Ionescu Clinical Emergency Hospital in Balotești, the new building has been received, and modernization work on the existing building will begin after August 20. The Târgu-Mureș Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Transplant has completed works, but its operationalization awaits resolution of utility supply issues. A local emergency command post has been established with local authorities to expedite the process.
